Jazz and Fine Food
At the Annual Evening for HOW
By Kahrin Deines
November 16th, 2008
On November 21, you can have your jazz and eat it too. Well, not exactly. But you can listen to live jazz while you enjoy the sounds of lobster claws being cracked to reveal their tasty meat. And you can do so knowing that the fun you’re having is actually going to help others.
 | For the evening’s entertainment, the popular jazz duo of Bart Weisman and Carol Wyeth will begin performing at 5:30 p.m. |
|
Known as the Annual Evening for HOW, the event is a fundraiser that takes place at the famous Lobster Pot Restaurant to support Helping Our Women, an organization that helps women suffering from chronic illness.
For the evening’s entertainment, the popular jazz duo of Bart Weisman and Carol Wyeth will begin performing at 5:30 p.m.
Weisman is a master drummer, and the organizer of two popular Cape music festivals – the Provincetown Jazz Festival and the Provincetown Music Festival. And Brewster-based vocalist Wyeth is a first-class jazz crooner, known for her innovative phrasings.
Along with jazz enjoyment, lobster enjoyment will also be in order, as Lobster Pot Chef Tim McNulty always prepares a fine dining menu for this popular event.
HOW was established in 1992 to serve women with cancer, but quickly expanded its service target to include all women suffering from a life-threatening or chronic illness.
Since 1993, the organization has operated a resource and referral center, which guides women with illness to a variety of social services and benefit programs. HOW also provides many other types of support, including health education workshops, weekly support groups, financial assistance, transportation, and assistance with errands and housekeeping.
Tickets to the 6th Annual Evening for HOW are $150. To find out more about the event or how to buy tickets for the evening, call 508.487.4357 or visit www.helpingourwomen.org. The Lobster Pot Restaurant is located at 321 Commercial Street.
