The fundraiser was organized in honor of Ron Henderson, the founder of the Provincetown store Pulp who died of cancer this winter after battling AIDS for many years.
Long-time summer visitors Dina Barker and Mary Richter coordinated the event, which attracted 120 walkers and runners.
The event gave locals and visitors a chance to see a different side of Commercial Street while honoring a member of Provincetown’s community.
Those who missed the opportunity to participate can still make a donation online at www.asgcc.org by indicating the “Ptown 5K” as their purpose.
The top five female finishers in the race were Ashley Jensen, who finished first overall at 18:27.06; Kate Lyden at 20:45.7 ; Sari Edelstein at 21:03.7; Wendy Wagner at 21:26.5; and Annie Mullins at 23:00.2. The top five male finishers were Michael Gosselin at 18:53.3; Michael Metivier at 19:22; Jake Wixted at 10:38.2; Joe Fischel at 19:44.8 and Jim Sheehan at 19:48.4.
Cape Air, Cape Inn, Gold Medal Bakery, Pepsi, Provincetown Inn, Pulp, and Stop and Shop contributed financial support or provisions to make the event happen, while other Provincetown businesses offered discounts to participants.
