The B Street Garden project. |
Notes from Land's End: Feb. 28
What’s the buzz at Town Hall?
By Laura Shabott
February 28th, 2010
It’s never quiet at Provincetown’s town hall. How refreshing is that in February on the Outer Cape? Roving around for news, Doug Johnstone pointed me to the B Street Garden department. The dashing Brian Carlson, Health Inspector, handed me the application, explaining that this community garden project was developed through a state grant and the hard work of many people.
 | The 2010 annual town meeting is MONDAY, APRIL 5TH AT 6PM. There. Now you can’t say no one told you. |

The B Street Garden is a cooperative project with 30 8’X12’ gardening plots in its Phase One. As of 2/23/10, thirty-two people have requested to participate. The deadline to apply for the lottery selection is Monday, March 22nd at 5:00pm. There are three ways to do it. Apply in person with AmeriCorps’s Ryeon Corsi, ConCom Representative at Town Hall, 16 Jerome Smith, Monday through Thursday, 10 – 6. You can also go to the Provincetown Conservation Commission itself at 260 Commercial Street. Lastly, you can apply online through Provincetown’s website. Do you have questions? Go online or call Ryeon at 508-487-7020.
Next stop, through a set of doors in ‘Get Smart’ style, is the licensing department. The chic and efficient Darlene Van Alstyne is on the ready to renew and review your license. “Renew. Renew now. This is the time to do it….we’re waiting for you”, says Darlene and Jane.

Come roll up your sleeves on April 5th and work with your neighbors to keep Provincetown fabulous. The 2010 annual town meeting is MONDAY, APRIL 5TH AT 6PM. There. Now you can’t say no one told you. Be at town meeting or live forever with the decisions of other people. The Town Article Warrants for this year close on Thursday, March 4th at 5pm.
Well, Provincetown is fabulous, says the National Trust for Historic Preservation. We are listed in their 2010 America’s Dozen Distinctive Destinations. Now, how great is that?
