The boys at The Crown and Anchor. |
A Day in the Life of a Circuit Boy
Notes from Land's End: July 5
By Laura Shabott
July 5th, 2010
Fireworks and Circuit Parties are Provincetown’s way of celebrating independence. Men from all over the country pour into town with hot bods and itsy bitsy bathing suits. And let’s face it, these guys are buff. This roving reporting went around town to find out what a circuit boy does for the 4th.

10:00am: Buy tickets for David Flower’s Summer Camp. Selling at a fast clip (900 and climbing), star Johnny Hazzard and Camp producer David Flower were chatting it up all excited about Sunday’s Pier Dance and Monday’s Sunset Boat Cruise.
11:00am: Catch some rays. It was wall to wall lounge chairs on the deck at the Boatslip Resort. Every one was facing the west end but at high noon, a pool boy’s whistle blows. All chairs will move to face Long Point amidst the new umbrellas and chairs.

1:00pm: Go to the gym. Working out is essential to keep up the pace. Both Mussel Beach and the Provincetown Gym are packed.
2:00pm: Eat a great lunch after the workout at Blondie’s. This hamburger joint, with hand cut fries, is across from the A-house alley.
2:30pm: Take a disco nap and…not alone.
5:00pm: Be seen at the Boatslip’s Tea Dance in a new tank top, cargo shorts and fedora from Coffey Men.
7:30pm: Read Mann’s newest novel “Object of Desire”. Now available in paperback, William Mann made Provincetown’s Fourth of July circuit week famous in “Where the Boys Are”.
9:00pm: Have a light nosh at Victor’s.
10:30pm: Dance to DJ Roland Belmeres at the Crown and Anchor’s Paramount. It’s raining men. Hallelujah!
1:00am: Eat, meet and greet at Spiritus Pizza.
2:00am: Go back to the hotel for who knows what?
Next day: Add in some beach time and do it all again!
Nothing says the Fourth of July like a day with a circuit boy! I’m exhausted.
