Fundraiser for Two Friends

Gallery Ehva - November 27

November 14th, 2010

Castle Hill, Truro, and Gallery Ehva, Provincetown, have joined forces to throw a fundraiser for Cyndi Wish and Carla Anderson, two artist friends diagnosed with cancer.

With bands, raffles, great food and beautiful people to hang out with, this is an event that ‘helps our own’ while having fun.

Neither of the women can work and need funds to make it through the winter. A group of extraordinary people are throwing a wellness party for Cyndi and Carla Saturday, November 27th from 4-7 at Gallery Ehva, 74 Shank Painter Road, Provincetown. Currently, there is a drive for donations through Friday November 19th.

Cyndi, diagnosed last month with Hodgkin Lymphoma, worked at Castle Hill for the past five years and is a wonderful artist. We spoke today about her illness. “When I was diagnosed with cancer, my mother told me, "You are going to need to learn to ask for and accept help. Promise me that you will let people help you." Cyndi also said “As much as I hate it when she [her mother] is right, I’m overwhelmed with gratitude for the amount of support I am receiving from the community. There is no way that I could get through this illness alone.”

Captain Carla Anderson, a Provincetown resident since 1992, was most recently an Assistant Harbormaster. Diagnosed with Breast Cancer eight months ago, she said, in a phone conversation, that “fighting cancer is my full time job”. A student, friend and volunteer at Castle Hill, Carla also feels blessed and uplifted by the community’s support and thanks Helping Our Women. She is on the ready to collect donations by car from those people who cannot make it to Castle Hill by Friday November 19th.

There are works donated by Heather Bruce, Kaolin Davis, Lisa Ventre, Ewa Nogiec, Cherie Mittenthal, Bill Liebskind, Sarah Rutherford, Zannah Noe, Teri Danek, David Ellis, Cis Rossey, Cyndi Wish, Carla Anderson and others. Truro Vineyards also donated a tour and wine tasting for ten (10).

“If you can’t make it November 27th and wish to make a donation, please make checks out to Castle Hill / Friends in Need. 100% of the money raised will be donated to these two friends”, says Cherie Mittenthal, Executive Director of Truro Center for the Arts at Castle Hill.

With bands, raffles, great food and beautiful people to hang out with, this is an event that ‘helps our own’ while having fun. For more information, check out their Facebook page, A Fundraiser for Two Women in Need or contact Castle Hill.
