A Beginner’s Introduction to Technology will help seniors to better use tech resources by providing overviews of computer basics such as using Windows, sending emails, and navigating the internet. Whether you are looking to keep in touch with family or start a new art project, Rebecca can provide tips and individual instruction to aid all attendees.

The Provincetown Library welcomes Bold Strokes Books as part of Women's Week! Bold Strokes Books is a Valley Falls, New York independent publishing house focusing on LGBTQ literature. The event will run from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, and highlight twelve of the publisher's authors featured in the new releases On the Edge of Your Seat and Author Favorites. This event will be moderated by Melissa Brayden and Rachel Spangler, and will be held in the Marc Jacobs Reading Room.

The Provincetown Library Comic Book Club will meet each week in the Bowsprit Room as a collaboration with the Provincetown Schools Enrichment Program. Students will choose several recurring monthly titles to read, discuss story lines, and examine character development over the course of the year. The group will also have access to graphic novels and collections featuring their favorite characters from the CLAMS system. Grades 4-8

Get your friends together and start 2014 off on a high note with the third year of the Provincetown Library Community Walking Group! Each Friday, the Library will open an hour early for this open format program encouraging fitness and kinship in town during the winter months. Participants will choose their own routes, pace, and distance each week, so feel free to get creative and beat the cold! The Community Walking Group is also pet friendly this year, so bring your furry friend for some company and exercise as well. The walk will be immediately followed each week by the Library’s new Coffee and Bagel hour in the Marc Jacobs Reading Room; a perfect way to get the chills out!!

Join the Cape Cod Genealogical Society in the Grace Gouveia Activity Room at the Council on Aging building for an informative program presented by the Provincetown Public Library. Society President David Martin and his staff will visit the COA to provide an overview of genealogy as well as share some great research techniques, data and references for tracing family lineages and history. The program will also feature helpful tips regarding the use of new technologies to aid your search.

Food for Fines enables patrons facing overdue book fines to get into the giving spirit and directly benefit needy families in the community by donating food items in place of Library late fees. Please bring non perishable food items to the main circulation desk to participate in this great program! Each donated food item will remove $5 worth of fees from patrons’ fine records. All goods will be given to the Provincetown United Methodist Church Food Pantry. !

Improve flexibility and mental clarity with an hour of yoga each week on the Library's bright, spacious Second Level. The instructor, Geof Karlson, has been teaching yoga, tai chi, chi kung, and meditation for seven years on Cape Cod. He currently teaches in Wellfleet, Eastham, Orleans, and Harwich. Morning Yoga at the Ship is an open course being offered free of charge, and will meet weekly at the Library near the Rose Dorothea Model. Yoga mats will be provided to all in attendance.

The Provincetown Knit-Wits will meet every Wednesday night in the Bowsprit Room on the second level from 6 to 8 pm. No experience is necessary to join this ongoing program, and free knitting needles and yarn will be provided while supplies last. Beginners will be offered personalized training to acquire the skills needed to knit beautiful and creative clothing, home accessories, and gifts. While learning innovative new techniques, the group will also focus on weekly projects including creating pieces for charitable organizations and planning future trips to knitting conferences. We welcome singer-songwriter Emily Nyman as part of Women's Week! With her unique style, poetic lyrics, soothing vocals, and expressive piano and guitar, Emily's performance is a real treat. She and Lynn Berry have been co-writing songs since 1991 and have released several self-produced albums. Emily has performed in venues from the Montreal Quebec to the Jersey Shore, providing an eclectic mix of original and cover tunes, including folk, classic rock, blues, country and old standards.

This class combines the slow movements of Tai Chi and Chi Kung for the benefit of mental and physical balance and general well being, with an emphasis on “mindfulness” – remaining focused in the here and now. An informative and humorous discussion of MS will follow Yvonne’s dynamic presentation of her work. All proceeds from the sale of MS Madness! at this event will go directly to HOW.
