May 29th, 2013 at 7PM Spring has returned and so have our humpbacks! Jenn Tackaberry, research assistant in the PCCS Humpback Whale Studies Program, will discuss the Center's three-decades-long study of humpback whales. She will cover the basic biology and behavior of humpbacks, and will delve into the detailed research that has occurred in the North Atlantic as well as the Pacific Ocean by the Center's staff and their collaborators. Genetics, migration routes, entanglements, and conservation issues are just some of the topics that will be covered during the talk.

Mar 27th, 2013 at 7PM How Is the Health of Our Bay? Keeping our Fingers on the Pulse of Cape Cod Bay. Amy Costa, PhD, will discuss the Center's Cape Cod Bay Monitoring Program, which is the only multi-year environmental monitoring effort for the Bay. She will present the results of the first five years of the program, including information on nutrient concentrations, variations in eelgrass habitat and quality and results of one year of monitoring for the presence of pharmaceutical compounds in the Bay.
