"Mr. Kaplan" Jacob Kaplan lives an ordinary life in Uruguay. Jacob fled Europe for South America because of World War II. But now turning 76, he-s become rather grumpy, fed up with his community and his family-s lack of interest in its own heritage. One beach bar may, however, provide him with an unexpected opportunity to achieve greatness and recover his family-s respect in the community: its owner, a quiet, elderly German, raises Mr. Kaplan suspicion of being a runaway Nazi. Ignoring his family-s concerns about his health, Jacob secretly recruits a former police officer, to help him investigate. (91 minutes)

"The Lost Bird Project"In this presentation we’ll screen The Lost Bird Project, a film about Todd McGrain’s quest to remember North America’s lost birds. The film follows McGrain as he attempts to pay homage to five extinct North American bird species by placing his sculptures in the last-seen locations of these birds, including one on the heathlands of Martha’s Vineyard. How do we remember organisms that have gone extinct? How might art help us to protect and understand our natural world? After the film, join us for a panel discussion followed by a question-and-answer period, moderated by WCAI’s Mindy Todd.

Seminar Written by Theresa Rebeck Directed by Christine Toy Johnson Starring Alan Campbell A provocative comedy from Pulitzer Prize nominee Theresa Rebeck, Seminar is a story of four aspiring young novelists who sign up for private writing classes with Leonard, an international literary figure. Under his recklessly brilliant and unorthodox instruction, some thrive and others flounder, alliances are made and broken, sex is used as a weapon and hearts are unmoored. The wordplay is not the only thing that turns vicious as innocence collides with experience in this biting Broadway comedy. Seminar contains brief female nudity and adult situations.
