In the summer of 1984, Margaret Thatcher is the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and the mineworkers' union goes on strike. This prompts a group of gay and lesbian activists to raise money for the union and, when rebuffed by strike organizers, to travel to a Welsh mining village to make their donation in person.
