Go Back to School to be an Artist
At Truro's Center for the Arts at Castle Hill
By Kahrin Deines
October 20th, 2008
It’s back to school time again for kids everywhere and it could be for you, too. Forget social studies, math and science, though. Instead, think ceramics, welding, printmaking and more.

Each fall the Truro Center for the Arts at Castle Hill presents a wide selection of art classes taught by talented Outer Cape artists.
The selection is designed to offer options for both beginners and advanced students. And the classes, which explore a variety of mediums, are offered in different time formats that can work with many schedules.
For fall 2008, a number of exciting classes are in the lineup.
Ben Krupka, whose work has been featured in “Ceramics Monthly” and “Clay Times,” is offering a wood-firing class, through which participants can be part of the first firing of the new wood kiln at the Highland Center. In the realm of ceramics, Paul Wisotzky is also teaching a class on how to altar clay forms into new directions on the wheel.
In pastels Bernadette Waystack will offer a primer designed for those looking for an introduction to the medium. And in print, Carol Odell is presenting an introductory workshop in monotypes.
Castle Hill also operates both print and ceramics cooperatives, which offer facilities and individual instruction.
To find out more about the center’s fall class schedule, visit www.castlehill.org or call 508.349.7511.
