Masters and Emerging Artists
At the Provincetown Art Association and Museum
By Kahrin Deines
January 4th, 2009
If you think that Provincetown is sleepy in the winter, then you haven’t been watching the art scene. In particular, it’s about time for you to visit the Provincetown Art Association and Museum, which hit the new year running with three separate exhibitions.
 | All together the exhibits represent a full spectrum of creative development, with work from artists of many ages and at many points in their careers. |

All together they represent a full spectrum of creative development, with work from artists of many ages and at many points in their careers.
Talented, emerging artists are being honored, through a special exhibit of work by the 2008 Fine Arts Work Center Fellows. The fellows are ten emerging artists who have received a winter residency stipend to pursue their art in the inspiring setting of the Provincetown arts colony. Their work will be on display until March 1.
Masters, of course, will also be on display, with an exhibit of picks from the museum’s permanent collection of more than 2,000 artworks created by artists who have worked in Provincetown.
And, last but not least, the museum is presenting a Members’ Juried exhibit as well. As an artists’ association, it often features exhibits of work by its many talented members, providing some with an opportunity to show their work that they might not have in other settings.
The museum is open from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday through Sunday. To find out more about the exhibits or the museum, call 508.487.1750 or visit www.paam.org.
