The Crowne Point Inn and Spa. |
Hotel Hopping: Part One
Notes from Land's End: Oct. 3
By Laura Shabott
October 3rd, 2011
As I watched people line up outside of town hall this morning waiting to buy tickets to the Mark Jacobs/PAAM Beaux Art Ball this October 29th, it was clear that Provincetown is very much a year-round destination. With Women's Week around the corner, Spooky Bears already making costumes for Halloween and an upcoming holiday season filled with events, shopping and gallery crawls, who doesn’t want to come to the Outer Cape in the Off-Season? No one!
 | This roving reporter ran around town to find the best deals for a stay in 02657 in the larger inns. The criteria: open year round, user-friendly website and a total experience for the visitor. |

Here are some lodging tips to make your next trip to Provincetown the best ever:
1. Even when you book through a third-party online reservation system, like Travelocity, call directly to confirm your reservation, find out about parking, discounts and get a “feel” for the venue’s staff.
2. Every hotelier has the right to change rates. Some places will have a walk-in special of the day depending on room availability. While this is a romantic idea mid-week, don’t count on just popping by for weekends like Halloween. Book in advance, locking in your reservation or you’ll be crying in your martini and staying in Eastham.
3. Advance Deposits when reserving a room are common on the Outer Cape. Be clear about the cancellation policy when making your arrangements.

Let’s take a tour!
At the border of Provincetown and North Truro is the new Harbor Hotel, once the Cape Inn. With over 100 beautifully renovated rooms, it is affordable, pet-friendly and clean. Parking is abundant and loaner bicycles are available during your stay. Whaler’s Lounge is open for drinks and dining with a spacious open patio and fire pit.
Rates range from $69.00 to $189.00 in the off-season with Halloween weekend averaging $169.00 for an Ocean View Room. Who wouldn’t mind a healthy jaunt down Commercial Street with your main squeeze and pup to get a room for these prices?
The Crown and Anchor Inn is an eighteen-room guest house in the heart of Commercial Street. It’s the place to party; with shows, bars and live piano entertainment all year long. This vibrant complex’s Central House restaurant is very popular for a drink at the bar or pre-show dining. Many rooms have fireplaces, Jacuzzis and breathtaking views of Long Point.
Prices range from $145.00 to $195.00 through November 7th with even lower prices throughout the rest of the season. The Crown is a hot spot for Halloween, so reserve your room now.
Overlooking the town, The Crowne Pointe Inn and Spa is a favorite for discerning travelers who want both quiet, luxurious accommodations and proximity to Commercial Street. Excellence is the keynote of this exclusive hotel with rates of $129 to $329.00 per night from October 22nd through December 28th. Cape Escape Packages, that include Shui Spa treatments, dining and breakfast for two at the Bistro, are also available at a great price.
