Sping Has Sprung!

Everything Begins To Open

April 14th, 2013

April in Provincetown brings the sweet sound of peepers in the woods, delicate early spring blossoms, and the flowering of fun as events and activities begin to bloom!

The Red Inn’s opening party, one of the highlights of the early spring season, will be May 1st from 6-10pm, with complimentary food, cash bar, a DJ & dancing!

Pilgrim Monument and Provincetown Museum opened on April 1st, and is open daily from 9 am to 5 pm. The Pilgrim Monument is a 103-year old structure is 252 feet, 7 ½ inches high and the walk to the top takes you through a combination of 116 steps and 10 ramps. At the adjoining Provincetown Museum, the “Fleet’s In” is a new exhibition in the East Gallery of 1/24th scale Rig Dragger boat models which replicate actual fishing boats from the Provincetown fleet, circa 1950-72. You’ll find lots of treats to view at this, the highest spot in Provincetown!

More of our great restaurants are re-opening, so your weekend dining options are growing! The Post Office Café reopened for weekend breakfast on April 5th, and they’ll resume dinner service on April 12th, a sure sign that their Cabaret shows are on their way.

For casual and chic small-plate dining, Victor’s re-opened for dinner on April 4th, and will serve dinner from Thursday-Sunday from 5-10 pm, with a Raw Bar Happy Hour from 4-6 pm. Their opening party is scheduled for April 17th from 5-8. Former sous chef Christina Spencer is their new Executive Chef, and is integrating some great new healthy menu options including gluten-free dishes!

Ross'Grill is opening for the season on Friday April 12th and Saturday April 13th for dinner, beginning a Thursday- Sunday dinner service until May, when they will also begin their lunch service. Ross' Grill offers breathtaking harbor views with a European bistro atmosphere, and was rated "excellent" by Zagat's Dining Guide. For reservations call 508-487-8878.

Red Inn is opening Thursday April 18th and will be open Thursday - Sunday until May15th. Here, you’ll enjoy an award-winning, delicious meal in one of their four dining areas or the newly expanded fifteen seat bar and experience the wonderful ambiance enhanced by sensational views, two oversized brick fire places, wide plank hardwood floors, and beamed ceilings. The Inn’s opening party, one of the highlights of the early spring season, will be May1st from 6-10pm, with complimentary food, cash bar, a DJ & dancing! Please note that if you want reservations, they are already booking for six weeks ahead, so call early, 508-487-7334.

For the hardy outdoors man or woman, the whale watches are back! First trips were scheduled for Saturday April 6th, so check out Dolphin Fleet Whale Watch and Provincetown Whale Watch for schedules. Wear sturdy shoes with non-skid soles and a warm jacket, as winds and sea spray can still sting at this time of year, and don’t forget your cameras and binoculars!

Theater season is beginning to bloom at the Provincetown Theater with the opening of “God of Carnage,” a psychological drama set among New York’s bohemian class. Performances are scheduled for April 18-21 and April 25-28 at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $25 for adults and $20 for seniors.

Finally, if shopping is your passion, a wonderful new shop in Whalers Wharf will delight you. Vintage in Vogue is a delicious consignment store offering – you guessed it – one of a kind vintage clothing and accessories, from the 1870s to the 1970s. Their original store, located in Orleans for the last five years, outgrew its space, and so they opened a second location here in Provincetown. They carry items for men and women, and offer dresses, lingerie, hats and jewelry, among other goodies. Open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays 12-5 pm until high season.
