Artists Cards at PAAM.
Notes from Land's End: Nov. 30
Xmas Gifts for less than $20.00: Part One
By Laura Shabott
November 27th, 2009
The notorious day after Thanksgiving, Black Friday, is the nation’s quest to capture the Christmas dollar. Counting our pennies is all the rage this Xmas, so this on the go reporter went around Provincetown to find gifts for two sawbucks or less. There are a surprising number of stores along Commercial Street with bargains for the budget conscious shopper.

The Artists Cards, on sale for only $3.50, is the ultimate stocking stuffer at PAAM’s gift shop. A deck of playing cards, it is created by Provincetown’s stellar painters. Peruse the gorgeous calendars, books and artist publications, most less than twenty smackers. Give your own sweet self the gift of cool events and get a membership to the museum.
Scores of wonderful kitchen gadgets are yours for the choosing at Utilities Home for the foodies on your list. A fun choice is Decadent Divas’ High Heel Cake Server, bringing Marilyn Monroe glam to the table for $18.99. Retailer Kimber, a local theater buff, had great ideas for getting the most out of twenty big ones.
Next stop was Undercover, where comfort in the bedroom is king (or queen, of course) Proprietor Jo put together a great present for $20.25 for our favorite night workers. The Dreamsacks Sleep Mask (on sale for $10.00) coupled with the world’s Softest Sox ($7.25) and Cali Olive lotion from the groves of Sicily ($3.00) is bliss on a budget.
We all know a lot of morning people (not me) and what better way to wake up than with a cup of Wired Puppy. For $15.00, a big mug will bring joy to any coffee lover. Or get a pound of freshly roasted Sweet Puppy Love ($10.50) as a stocking stuffer. Check your email for free as you sip a pick me up for the next round of stores.
This reporter loves body creams and there is no better high than a shopping at Good Scents. With samples all over the place, there is something for everybody! Their own product line can be custom blended for well under $20.00 Located in a converted fire house, the staff is really fun and the website is user friendly for purchases to faraway places.
Check out these gifts as you shop till you drop on Commercial Street!
