Notes from Lands End: July 26
Girl Splashers Go Wild with Twenty Smackers Each
By Laura Shabott
July 25th, 2010
Producer Lynette Molnar does it again with Girl Splash, Provincetown’s high season women’s event. Great weather and lots of people made Commercial Street a lively mix of folks. It was hopping at Girl Splash headquarters when this intrepid reporter gave the Go Wild Challenge: Spend $20.00 in 20 minutes and show me what you got.

Writer and volunteer Jonta Davis had been eyeing a T-Shirt all day when I approached her to take the Go Wild Challenge. With a resounding “I’ll be back”, she jumped around the table and got a ‘Big Bang Bazinga” in red for $19.98 at Shalom’s Gift Shop. In her second year with Girl Splash, she is the author of “We were the McMillans” available on Amazon.
Back from shopping, Jonta was promoting the Absolut Vodka Ptown Stroll. Seven inns, including the lively Somerset House and the stately Anchor Inn, were serving specialty drinks from 4-6pm, just for the girls. Tickets were $25.00 for seven drinks. Cosmo, anyone?

After getting their Absolut Stroll tickets, birthday girl Kelly McGlasson and girlfriend Angie Cody were popping their Provincetown cherry. Their first time here, the St. Louis couple thought it would be great to come for Girl Splash and they were not disappointed. Grinning from ear to ear, they took the Go Wild Challenge. Matching my twenty, the girls bought a Provincetown t-shirt and a fabulous pink hoodie, also from Shalom’s.
Babbette Lisotta and Jennifer Young, in for Girl Splash from Palm Springs, couldn’t wait to take the Go Wild Challenge. The two New England gals meet in Maui and have been an item ever since. When I said they could buy anything, the couple couldn’t decide between a memento from Wild Hearts or hats from Aunt Fanny’s garage. I’m glad they went with the hats. $9.99 each, the caps are well made sporting our famous town’s name.
Shopping on Commercial Street is always a pleasure, especially on a lovely summer day.
