Cashetta, ''the world's only drag magician.''
Back with New Magic
Cashetta Headlines at The Crown and Anchor

Many people think that Provincetown is a magical place. It’s light, it’s liberation, it’s location – all this does cast a spell. But real magic is not something most people believe in anymore, let alone associate with Commercial Street, which is better known as a stage for joke-cracking ladies and drag impresarios.
 | It’s the real magic of a real magician and drag comedian, by the name of Cashetta, who now performs feats of wonder every week at The Crown and Anchor. |

A new kind of spell is in the making in Provincetown, though, and it’s not just about ambiance. It’s the real magic of a real magician and drag comedian, by the name of Cashetta, who now performs feats of wonder every week at The Crown and Anchor.
Cashetta, the creation of Scott Weston, performed at The Crown in the early evening slot last summer and at the Alibi the summer before, but this year she’s ascended to a headliner’s spot and it’s little wonder. If you saw her show last year, you were no doubt bedazzled and you can expect nothing short of that in her new show.
Cards disappear to be found in the most unlikely places, drawings come to life to sing naughty songs, and mail-order magic kits are even made to work. There are a few repeats from last year, but these are true spellbinders, and well worth seeing again. One of these in particular – Cashetta’s performance of Harry Houdini’s gypsy rope mystery – is a real tour de force, certain to astound and leave you wanting to ask for a replay.
Cashetta’s magic isn’t just about tricks, though. Weston actually has a performance arts background and his stage sorcery includes a bit of the off the cuff as well as the up the sleeve. In fact, he was a stand-up comic and singer long before he was a magician and cut his heels with acts combining these skills on New York stages in the 1990s. And it is this versatility as a performer that really makes all of the hocus pocus work.
To find out more about Cashetta’s performance schedule, go to www.onlyatthecrown.com or call 508.487.1430. The Crown and Anchor is located at 247 Commercial Street.
