For now, in the spring, there are number of parties scheduled at The A-House, The Crown and Anchor and Vixen Nightclub to get you ready for the summer’s heat.

On April 20, The A-House will host the first of a series of “Return of Classic Disco” parties. Next up will be a “Mama’s Boy” party on May 9 and a “Trash” party on May 16, with host Thirsty Burlington.

The energy will continue with a three-day run of dance parties during Memorial Day weekend, and then a “Tattoo” night on May 30.

At The Crown and Anchor, karaoke nights will begin for 2008 in the Wave Bar with favorite drag performer Scarbie on May 21. In fast order, there will be a “Flashback” night with DJs Darryl Strickland and Jason Royce on May 23. And on May 25, the notorious “Vault at Large” party with DJ Chris Racine will take place.

The Vixen, meanwhile, is open Thursday through Sunday. But it will celebrate the start of the summer season on May 8, with DJ Ahbi spinning.

Cabaret and comedy will also return to town in May. At the Vixen, there will be performances by comedian Jennie McNulty, folk star Ellis and Pearlene.

The Crown’s stage, meanwhile, will be presenting performers Kate Clinton, Scarbie, Dina Martina and the “Painted Ladies” ensemble.

The Pied Bar will also reopen in May, and a number of Girl Power Events will take place over Single Women’s Weekend mid-month, including parties on both May 16 and 17.
