Fourth of July!

Celebrate all Weekend in Provincetown!

June 24th, 2013

It may be hard to believe, but Independence Day 2013 is right around the corner! Come down to Provincetown to enjoy Fourth of July and all it offers to add some real sparks to your holiday!

All of your favorite entertainers are in town for the season, and ready to provide you with an evening of great entertainment!

Start your celebrating early with David Flower's Summer Camp activities such as the annual Sunset Boat Cruise July 3rd from 4-8 pm aboard the Provincetown II. This historic ferry is Boston's largest cruise boat, can carry 1,000 passengers, has two expansive dance levels and three full bars that also sell snack foods. It's a guaranteed good time, complete with gorgeous sunsets and a cool breeze!

Thursday July 4th starts off with the annual Fourth of July parade; this year's theme is "Show Your Colors, Red, White and Blue". The parade travels from the Cape Inn, down Commercial Street to Franklin Street in the West End. After the parade has passed, go for lunch at one of our lovely waterside restaurants and have a leisurely meal, perhaps do some shopping. Whether you're looking for clothes or shoes, home décor or art, or even a toy or treat for your pet, you'll find something to satisfy at our many small independent businesses. At the end of the day, find yourself some prime seating along the in-town beaches to watch the fireworks over Provincetown Harbor! It's a major crowd pleaser every year.

On July 5th, come down to the harbor again to enjoy the 13th annual David Flower's Pier Dance. Completely surrounded by water, MacMillan Pier affords sweeping views of the Provincetown Harbor and front row seats to some of the most beautiful sunsets on the east coast. This event presents the finest in sound, lighting and rigging, and draws crowds from near and far.

On July 6th from 10 am to 2 pm, you can experience a part of Provincetown's maritime history with a public tour of the Race Point Light Station. Simply drive or take a beach shuttle to the Race Point Beach lower parking lot, and wait for the Light Station's van which will take you over the dunes to the site. The Light station also has a gift shop which offers a wide variety of items, from engraved scrimshaw to embroidered clothing. Most of gifts are custom-made and unavailable anywhere else; purchases support the Light Station. You can also stay overnight in the Keeper's House or the Whistle House!

All of your favorite entertainers are in town for the season, and ready to provide you with an evening of great entertainment! Doug Repetti sings and tickles the ivories at the Gifford House lobby bar on Thursdays and Fridays, and the longest-running drag show "Illusions" is back and wowing crowds. Local drag diva Thirsty Burlington channels Cher, Judy Garland and Michael Jackson at the Post Office Cabaret, as well as Provincetown newcomer Electra, who "does" Bette Midler as well as Bette herself!

Comedians Kate Clinton, Michele Balan, Miss Richfield 1981, Dallas Dubois and Dina Martina are presenting new shows for Summer 2013! If you like piano bars, both Bobby Wetherbee and jazz duo Debra and Patrick are once again performing their musical magic in the Central House!

There is something for everyone and you're sure to have a fabulous time.
