It's Time to Howl!

Halloween Fun in Provincetown

October 18th, 2013

Provincetown loves Halloween, our town is a fantastic place to celebrate. Festivities full of ghouls, the undead and other horrors begin October 25th and extend until November 2-3rd!

Ghosts and ghouls and twisted souls are waiting for you behind every fence and every corner...maybe even up in the trees.

One of the biggest events each year is David Flower Production's Ghost Town, which runs from Friday October 25th through November 2nd from 7-11 pm.

Now in its fifth year, mastermind David Mazochi and his crew build upon elements that have worked well and improved them, and this year Mazochi even attended a national convention for haunted attractions for even more ideas! Prepare yourself for a frightful journey through condemned buildings, pirate ruins and scary grave-sites as you encounter the living dead. Keep your wits about you as you wander through areas of death, decay and doom trying to escape. The creatures of Ghost Town are dying for you to cross over and join them in a gruesome and grim afterlife! Tickets can be purchased online, and are $15 for adults and kids 13 years and up. While younger children are allowed, use discretion, as this is a truly scary event.

Another great opportunity to scare yourself will happen on October 29th, from 7:30 to 10:00 pm, is the seventh biennial Helltown on Winthrop! The event is presented every other year by Richard Conley of The Watership Inn and owners and staff of Bayberry Accommodations, andThe White Wind Inn. Brace yourself for blood-curdling screams, howls from hell and more as you experience for yourself that fear is reality! Ghosts and ghouls and twisted souls are waiting for you behind every fence and every corner...maybe even up in the trees. Beware, keep your eyes open, and hold tight to your friends...one misguided step, a split second turn of your gaze and you may be dragged down to the underworld. Enter at your own risk and exit...if the demons allow it. Again, use your discretion when bringing kids 12 and under who might be too frightened, as this event is... not for the faint of heart! A $5 suggested donation is requested at The Watership Inn Haunted House portion of your journey (net proceeds benefit the Soup Kitchen of Provincetown).

With October 31st falling on a Thursday, we celebrate Townie Halloween, but don't worry, everyone can join in! Many people parade up and down Commercial Street in their costumes, displaying our devilish, sexy, silly and “soulful” selves for all to see! After our “parades,” folks can get together at the “Nightmare on Commercial Street,” at the Crown and Anchor's Wave Bar to enjoy a spirited evening of spooky music and scary videos for your dancing and viewing entertainment – presented by DJ Tom Yaz at 9 pm! You can also head to Club Purgatory at the Gifford House in your costume and dance the night away at their “Townie Halloween”.

On November 2nd, which is also part of Spooky Bear Weekend -- nothing like big hairy guys in macho costumes to excite the spirits – you can choose from a great variety of parties, including the “Spooky Tea” at the Boatslip Resort, where resident DJ MaryAlice will spin tunes for the last time this season!! Great oceanside location and bartenders, and lots of furry guys in costumes! Go.

On the other hand, if you prefer fancier costumes and live entertainment, you can check out the Beaux Arts Ball at Town Hall. This full-costume Halloween ball featuring a performance by singer Taylor Dane! Proceeds benefit the Provincetown Film Society, Helping Our Women, and the Town Hall Auditorium Fund.

Last but not least, the A-House will be holding numerous Halloween and Spooky Bear dances between October 26th and November 2nd – check 'em out!

Finally, if you need makeup, wigs, jewelry or other accessories to complete your costume, don't forget to stop in and see Hera at Klymaxx Unlimited or Alan at House of La Rue for your Halloween needs!
