In July, Provincetown goes high-octane, with a dizzying variety of activities and entertainers to guarantee you a sizzling summer vacation!

The Crown and Anchor starts the month off early with their annual Independence 2014 celebration, which runs from June 28th through the 6th of July! If you want parties, this is the place to be, with 8 nights of dance parties, three pool parties, its First Annual Beach party, and performances by comic actor Leslie Jourdan, and renowned comediennes Jessica Kirson and Kate Clinton!

On July 4th, come downtown to watch our annual parade! The festivities start at 11 am in the East End at the Harbor Hotel and proceed up Commercial to Franklin Street! Later in the day, the Fireworks start at dusk over Provincetown Harbor, which can be viewed from any bay side beach!

Those with a taste for high camp can check out the musical “Gay Camp” at the Crown from July 7-11th! For nature and/or history lovers, the Race Point Lighthouse will be open for touring on July 5th from 10 a to 2 pm. You can get to the lighthouse by walking (about a mile) via your own four-wheel drive vehicle with the proper permit. Enjoy stunning Atlantic Ocean views and learn a little Cape Cod maritime history! The tour is free, but any donations are deeply appreciated and directly benefit Race Point. Stop by on your way to Hatches Harbor, don't forget your camera, and make a stop in their gift shop!

Celebrate Provincetown Art Association & Museum's Centennial with the 17th annual Secret Garden Tour July 13th! Begin with a self-guided walking tour of Provincetown’s gorgeous secret gardens, through hidden paths into borders and beds of specimen plants, common and exotic flowers, and lush greenery. Ticket-holders receive a map and booklet with stories/details about each garden. This year, the tour is in the West End of town, with gorgeous views and unique architecture. After the tour, visitors are invited to PAAM to wander exhibitions in air-conditioned comfort. Proceeds benefit PAAM exhibitions and educational programs.

PAAM's celebration includes the return of their Summer Jazz Series, featuring concerts on July 9th, 16th and 23rd. Come unwind after an active day with hot and smooth jazz sounds at 6 pm. Upcoming concerts include Bart Weisman with Donna Bryne on vocals, Tim Ray on piano, Marshall
Wood on bass, on July 9th, and Dick Miller and Friends on the 16th.

For an elegant evening among the grapevines, try Truro Vineyards of Cape Cod on July 2nd and 9th for their Wednesday “Wine, Art, Appetizers & Music” series which begin at 6 pm. You'll sample five locally made wines paired with delicacies of different styles from local chefs, while listening to music and enjoying local works of art. The chef for July is Chef Miles Matthews of Blackfish Food Truck! On July 2nd enjoy the works of landscape painter Jamie Morse and guitarist/blues singer/songwriter Sam Van Wagoner. On July 9th: revel in the stunning prints by photographer Randal Zmed and the folk/country/bluegrass melodies of Monica Rizzio. You really MUST treat yourself!
