A Beach Week for Women

Girl Splash Debuts July 19 to 26

June 29th, 2008

If you’ve ever dreamed of being on a beach surrounded by other lesbians, you should set aside July 19 through 26 on your schedule, because that’s when it could happen.

“There’s never been anything like it,” said Lynette Molnar, the organizer of the new Provincetown event. “Picture this: We’ll have cool all-women dance parties and hot beach parties on the only lesbian beach in the country.”

“There’s never been anything like it,” said Lynette Molnar, the organizer of the new Provincetown event. “Picture this: We’ll have cool all-women dance parties and hot beach parties on the only lesbian beach in the country.”

Molnar’s new week for women, known as Girl Splash, will feature a string of outdoor activities and parties, including sunset dune trips, whale watch tours, clambakes, pool parties and, of course, hot celebrations on the renowned beaches of the Cape Cod National Seashore.

In addition to the outside fun, Molnar hopes the event will give lesbians a rare opportunity to be totally free.

“This will be a very special week for women in a very special place,” Molnar said. “I’ve traveled all over the world and Provincetown is the only place I’ve ever been where women can walk down the street holding hands and feel totally safe. If you’ve never kissed another women openly at the beach or on the street feeling completely safe and proud, then come on out to Provincetown for Girl Splash!”

Molnar is one of the founders of the famous Provincetown Women’s Week that takes place every October. In the last few years, she also launched the popular Single Women’s Weekend and the Women of Color & Allies Weekend. She is also the founder of Girl Power Events, which presents popular parties for women at the Pied Bar all summer long.

Since Provincetown’s other women’s events fall in the spring and fall, Girl Splash has been scheduled to give women a chance to gather together in the middle of Provincetown’s beautiful summer season to enjoy the area’s outdoor charms.

Along with the draw of a weeklong beach frolic, Girl Splash will also feature plenty of nighttime fun, including comedy shows and dance parties. A roster of star performers who will be in town for the week will be announced in the coming days.
