Holly Folly Weekend

A Must for Holiday Pleasure

November 25th, 2012

Start a fun-filled holiday season at Provincetown’s Holly Folly weekend! There are many events and activities to put you in the mood, starting with the 3-day Holiday Shop-Hop! From November 30-December 2, simply shop at the unique stores or art galleries and then enjoy a meal at one of the many fine restaurants in town. Save the receipts from the participating shops, galleries, and restaurants you've visited, take them to the Welcome Center at Waydowntown (265 Commercial Street) and have them tallied and entered into a raffle for one of three prize baskets!

A weekend of fun, festivities and community support.

On Friday evening, kick back, laugh and sing along at an evening of “Jest and Jazz,” with noted humorist Loretta LaRoche and her jazz musician husband Kenny Wenzel, whose group will play holiday music. The show takes place at Town Hall from 7-9 p.m. and is sponsored by The Land’s End Inn; proceeds benefit The Baobab Home in Tanzania, East Africa.

Following the show, stop at the Crown and Anchor’s TIS THE SEASON FOR GIVING event at 9 pm. This is a benefit for the Aids Support Group of Cape Cod, and promises to be bigger and better than last year, with MORE Raffle items and amazing performances by Provincetown’s most talented entertainers!

On Saturday December 1st, have your photo taken with Santa, Ms. Santa or both at Song of Myself Photography (349 Commercial Street)! Whether you choose fun, festive or naughty, you'll get a terrific memento of your weekend and the $30 fee helps support Helping Our Women and the Aids Support Group of Cape Cod. After your session, chase away the chills at Souper Saturday from 12-4 p.m. Located at Frappo 66 (214 Commercial Street), the event offers a variety of soups from many local restaurants at $5 a bowl and benefits the Soup Kitchen In Provincetown (SKIP), which provides nutritious meals in a welcoming atmosphere to anyone in the community who is either in need or just seeking community.

Following lunch, drop in at the Holly Folly Inn Stroll from 2-4 pm. Thirteen of our fine guesthouses will throw open their doors for you to enjoy light refreshments and fabulous decorations that are sure to fill you with holiday cheer! As part of the Inn Stroll, the Sage Inn will hold a local food and garden boutique with vendors selling local specialty food products and holiday plants, and at the John Randall House you can help trim a tree which, with all its decorations, will be donated to the Foley House in support of the AIDS Support Group of Cape Cod. Saturday evening, make a point to see the Boston Gay Men’s Chorus at Town Hall at 8:30 pm. This beautiful Holly Folly tradition is a touching and fun way to celebrate the holiday season. Tickets will be on sale at Welcome Center. You’ll laugh, get misty-eyed and leave the show with the warmth of the holidays wrapped around your heart…

On Sunday morning, show your holiday spirit at the Holly Drag Brunch at Bayside Betsy's from 10 am to 1 pm. Come dressed in your best holiday outfit! On this last day of the Shop Hop, raffle winners will be chosen for the Holiday Prize baskets at 3 p.m. at the Welcome Center. Afterward, relax at Gregg's Cookie Party at the Porchside Bar, Gifford House, and enjoy complimentary cookies and sweets, a roaring fireplace, and cash bar from 5-8 pm. Finally, put your dancing shoes on Sunday night for the Holly Folly Classic Disco Night from 10 pm to 1 am at the Atlantic House!

While you’re here, take the time to stroll our streets to admire the Holiday Lighting Contest, and see all the lovely displays by the inns, private homes and shops competing to be the holiday’s best. These and many other events await you at Holly Folly! Any or all are guaranteed to put a smile on your face and a Christmas tune in your heart.
