Early December in Provincetown is a magical time. Both the Monument and the traditional Lobster Trap Tree are glowing with colorful holiday lights, you catch a whiff of wood smoke as you traverse the side streets, and the air is filled with the anticipation of celebrations shared with friends and extended family. It's also a time for festive activities and great Christmas shopping!

The tree and all the decorations will be donated to the Foley House in support of the AIDS Support Group of Cape Cod.

Start your weekend Friday with the Holly Folly Shop Hop 11 am-5 pm shop the unique shops and fabulous art galleries to find that perfect gift for someone on your list. Enjoy a meal at one of the great restaurants then drop your receipts off at the welcome center for a chance to win one of three gift baskets. Participating businesses are listed on the back of the Holly Folly program.

Looking for Friday night fun? Land’s End Inn’s Holiday Party from 4-8 pm features signature cocktails, gourmet hors d’oeuvres, desserts, DJ entertainment and a silent auction and raffle for fabulous prizes including original art, dining, spa services, travel and more along with the $10 requested donation will benefit the Provincetown Art Association and Museum. 7:30pm is the opening Night of “Oliver!” at the Provincetown Theater. You won’t want to miss The Crown and Anchor's annual “Tis the Season for Giving” show at 9pm, hosted by hometown drag diva Anita Cocktail benefits the Aids Support Group of Cape Cod. This years’ event promises to be bigger and better with more raffle items and amazing performances from some of Provincetown’s most talented entertainers! A suggested donation of $10 at the door. A holiday sing-along at the Porchside Bar at the Gifford House and parties at the A-House add to the evenings options of entertainment.

On Saturday, the action never stops! Gear up in your holiday color Speedo, sneakers, Santa hat or other holiday headgear (antlers?), beards and holiday flair like jingle bells, and join the 1st Santa Speedo Run to benefit the Cape Cod EMS & Firefighters Cancer Relief Fund. Beginning at 9:00 am, runners will travel from Fanizzi's restaurant in the East End of town to the Crown and Anchor complex downtown until 11:00 am. Late registration fee is $30, but you can register in advance and save $5, by calling the Provincetown Business Guild at (508) 487-2313. After you've “frosted your buns”, stop by the Wave Bar between 11 am and 1 pm, and enjoy a hot cup of delicious soup or chowder made by one of over 20 Provincetown restaurants for $5, which will benefit the Soup Kitchen in Provincetown.

Saturday afternoon Sage Inn is hosting their 2nd Annual Food Fair from 11-5 pm which features locally made and unique food gifts for the gourmand on your list. The annual Holly Folly Inn Stroll from 2-4pm features a dozen inns opening their doors offering tasty treats and fabulous decorations. A complete list can be found at the PBG website. Visit the John Randall House from 2-5 pm take a tour of their lovely house, enjoy complimentary food and beverages and help to trim a Christmas tree! The tree and all the decorations will be donated to the Foley House in support of the AIDS Support Group of Cape Cod.

After a leisurely dinner at your favorite restaurant, come enjoy a one-night performance of the renowned Boston Gay Men's Chorus at Town Hall. Their concert will fill you with nostalgia, joy, peace and good humor, and is the highlight of the holiday season for many! Doors open at 7:30, and the concert begins at 8 pm.

Prefer your own singing? Head to the A-House for Holiday Karaoke hosted by our own special drag hostess, Thirsty Burlington! For cabaret style holiday cheer, check out locals Jim Kelly and John Thomas, performing at Central House at The Crown and Anchor beginning at 9 pm.

Close out the weekend with a Holiday Drag Brunch at Bayside Betsy's from 10 am to 1 pm! Dress up in your holiday best and enjoy great food, service, and laughter! Head to the Welcome Center a little bit before 3 pm to catch the raffle drawing for the three prize gift baskets! At 5 pm, the Gifford House hosts their annual Cookie Party -- literally every flat surface is filled to groaning with goodies!

It’s a weekend full of festivities sure to make your holiday season brighter!
