Sailing Into the Future, Together: Celebrating 75 Years of WERCCS
For 75 years, West End Racing Children’s Community Sailing (WERCCS) has been more than a summer program—it has been a transformative experience for over 11,000 children in Provincetown and Truro. Through the thrill and education of sailing, racing, and swimming, young participants have built essential life skills: self-reliance, leadership, responsibility, teamwork, and a deep respect for our marine environment.
As we approach this remarkable milestone, we are proud to celebrate the generations of children who have learned not just how to sail, but how to grow into confident, capable individuals. And we invite you to be a part of the next chapter.
On Saturday, August 23, 2025, WERCCS hosted its 75th Anniversary Gala at the Historic Pilgrim Monument and Provincetown Museum on High Pole Hill Road. Set against a stunning backdrop, this unforgettable evening included culinary fare by Cosmos Catering, a raw bar, and sweet treats from Oriana, a silent auction, and live music beneath a starlit tent. It was a celebration not just of our past, but of the bright future we envision together.
Yet, even as we celebrate, we face a pressing challenge: the effects of rising sea levels have put our beloved Boathouse and waterfront training center at risk. To preserve our program and protect this historic structure, we are launching essential capital improvements, including reinforcing the bulkhead and restoring the Boathouse. These upgrades will ensure WERCCS can continue serving future generations with the same passion and excellence that has defined our work for decades.
